With four Christmas parties in seven days, and one of the craziest weeks ever at
work, I have had little time to do much posting here. I've also been working on
my Top 10 of 2K4 article which hopefully you can expect to see up at Thunderstruck
by early next week. Anyways, here are some quickies:
...............
Next week we're going to Cleveland to visit my in-laws for Christmas.
Having so much family around as acting babysitters, it will give Sally and me some time to get caught up on some
movies we've been wanting to see. Here are the ones we plan on seeing:
Sideways The Life Aquatic The Incredibles Oceans 12 Ray Meet The Fockers
...............
While on the topic of movies, you can see the teaser for Tim
Burton's remake of Willy
Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Is it just me, or does Johnny Depp
look like a mix of Michael Jackson and Mike Meyers in The Cat in the Hat?
This movie is either going to be genius or a complete stinker. Do you
smell something?
...............
Hold My Life
has some of the best one-liners from Bob Pollard's stage banter.
...............
Watched The Iron Giant
this week. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It's the best 90 minutes
I've spent in a long time.
...............
The
Love Shack goes up in smoke!

Spamshirt is a great website that allows
you to design your own t-shirt and put anything you want on it. I recently
made the above t-shirt in honor of my last GBV
show.
..................................
TinyURL is a very helpful
website that converts long URLs into tiny ones. This is very helpful if
you're trying to send an e-mail with a link from someplace like
Amazon.
..................................

Kung Fu Nation has the final GBV tour shirt
up for sale. I'm glad more people are able to get one of these b/c they
have been selling out at the shows. However, I thought it was going to be
an "tour only" shirt. I guess it doesn't really matter as long
as you get to share your GBV love.

Well, it's Christmas time once again and my family has asked me for gift ideas. Well, amazing enough, there really isn't much that I want this
year. Having a child really puts things into perspective. However,
below are the the few items that I wouldn't mind seeing under the tree for me:
 Guided
By Voices - Bee Thousand: Director's Cut 3LP (w/ Bonus CD)

Napoleon Dynamite DVD
Seinfeld DVDs: Season
1&2 Season
3

Strong Bad E-mails on DVD

If you missed GBV on Conan Thursday night, you can download the performance
here.

The poster for Batman
Begins is really cool. The story for this one is based on the
comic book series Batman Year One should be much better than previous Bat
movies. Look for it next June.

Our church started this campaign called Skipping Christmas! and have received national press coverage. The basic idea is to not be as concerned about the holiday of Christmas as in the meaning of Christmas. This is a great marketing concept and a completely great idea. My wife and I were talking about Christmas from last year and we couldn't name most of the gifts we received. However, we did remember the times we spent with each other and our families. So, this year, forget about buying that second cousin you don't talk to a gift and spend some quality time with your family and friends. Give them the best gift you can give, yourself.
DON'T FORGET!!!! GBV live on Conan O'Brien tonight!!
